Long ago and far away, as a teen age youth I built a primitive Ham Radio from a kit. With help and guidance from some adults. It was very weak. Morse code only, no voice, and the only time I could communicate long distances was late at night when the more powerful transmitters were silent.
Some had 1,000 watts of output. My little transmitter had only about ten watts, as I recall. One of the things Ham Radio operators used to do was to exchange post cards to prove how far they had managed to communicate. I was based at the time in New Jersey. I have changed my opinion, based on new data being reported.
It appears the Direct Energy Weapons that toasted Lahiana were from a new type of low orbit satellite. China is reported to have had three (3) satellites pass over and fire.
Of more possibly interest is that other reports claim that these were American Developed Weapons from a lab in Hawaii, copied -- possibly improved -- and made operational by China.
